Pilots & Judges Most of the pilots and judges from the event are seen in this photo. We want to thank the flyers from Lockport and area clubs for attending. We had a total of 15 pilots at this competition.
Preparation for the combat Each of the combat events started with setting the planes up at the pilot's pads. The 30 FT streamer is measured before and after the event. The pilots have 90 seconds to get the plane into the air. Points are scored for cutting a competitor's streamer, as well as staying in the air for the seven minute event and more points for landing on the marked out "Carrier".
Bob_Mike_Startup The planes weigh no more than 2.2 pounds. Bob MCMillan and Mike Daly are starting this model up for combat.
Corney Joe Chris Corney McGuiness (in the middle) is our eventual first place winner with two cuts and two carrier landings to his credit. His launcher/spotter, Joe is on his right with Chris as judge (for this heat).
Hand Launch Each of the planes was hand launched by the spotter/launcher, since the models don't have wheels.
Winners These are the event winners, Corney McGuiness, first place, Jim Werner, second, and Ron Monroe and George Hartman tied for third place.
Ricky_Bob Ricky Nyhan, the concession stand manager, did a nice job feeding the crowd. He and his grandfather, Bob O'Neil, served up quite a fine lunch.
Safety_Line.jpg There was a pretty good crowd on hand, and the safety flags marked the boundry between the pilot's area and the spectator area. Everyone in front of the safety line wore a OSHA approved hard hat. We did have two mid air collisions. The safety area is to prevent models from causing injury to anyone.

Contest Director, Andres Rodriguez, thanks everyone who helped to make this a successful and safe event.
We have another event scheduled on July 24. See you there!
