Pilots3.jpg - 28167 Bytes The event started with a safety inspection of each plane. A pliot's meeting was held to review the safety rules and other special information. Some pilots were working on their planes (not in this photo).
The_field.jpg - 19064 Bytes A view across the field. Lots to see and special advise from the builders and pilots.
The_hat.jpg - 31497 Bytes Not too sure if this is legal, but this pilot has special equipment to give him an edge! The glasses clearly show the boundry of the "box", while the onboard wind sock keeps the pilot informed of the wind direction. The rearview mirror protects your "six". Well, at least in theory?!
Bearcat.jpg - 45021 Bytes Here's a nice 704 Combat setup with the F8F Bearcat. Models of full scale airplanes that used a radial engine can have a .21 CI (max) two stroke engine (no tuned pipes). Models of In-line engines (not round) like the P51 and Spitfire were limited to .15 CI.
Plane_Kits.jpg - 50945 Bytes For anyone wanting to get started in 704 Combat, there were kits available for around $40.00 and P51 wings for $7.00! Performance Hobbies of Webster, NY donated the first prize, which was a choice of the P51D or P51B kit. Thanks Tom! A JBD Aerotec Sea Fury kit happened to find its way into my car! Just got to add some glue... See you guys at the field soon!
