Flying Skills Challenge

On 09/24/05 we held an event to challenge the basic flying skills of all participants for airplanes and helicopters. Eleven airplane pilots competed, but no helicopter pilots attended. The event was organized by Andrés Rodríguez at Fordham Field. We flew a set of basic, NOT DANGEROUS, maneuvers that were scored by our two judges, Bob O'Neil and Corny McGuinness. We flew three rounds, adding the score of the best two. To account for the different skill levels pilots chose to fly in one of the two routines shown below the photos. Everyone appeared to have a good time, including several spectators.
