Early_Spectators The event started at 10:00 A.M. even though the crowd was small. More spectators showed up later during the day. The temperature rose to 95 degrees and the humidity was high, but the pilots kept flying and the crowd attendence was good until around 3:30. The lightening storms were to hit us later (at about 5:00 PM).
Registration_tent Most of the pilots started the event off visiting the registration tent and filling out the event forms.
Chuck_Paul_Ricky We were able to share the flying experience with 50 student pilots who made a contribution to Ronald McDonald House. We used three trainer airplanes during the event (Chuck Boyer, Jack Hayward and Ron Swift all contributed a plane). Shown here, Chuck Boyer and Paul Spara are working with two student pilots.
Raffle_area Paul Georger and crew ran an efficient Raffle. Tom McCoy of Performance Hobbies and our raffle team are shown in the photo. Many thanks to all who donated their time and other resources.
4Wheel The event included the 4-wheel car R/C dirt track. This is the new site managed by Field Director, Rod Curtis. Some of our visitors broight their own electric and/or nitro vehicles. For a small donation to Ronald McDonald, all were able to run the course. A couple of electric 4 wheel drive trucks were available for those who didn't bring their own vehicle.
Aug1_early The event seen early morning on Sunday. The 60 mph winds took down all the tents and made quite a mess of the place. The club members showed up early and by 9:00 AM, the site was back to normal. We lost our brand new shelter, but the spectators were able to use it in the 99 degree weather on Saturday. Sunday would bring winds up to 30 mph first from the Southwest, then shiftuing from the Northwest. Quite the challenge for many of the pilots.
